Basic Electricity Course

This hands-on introductory course is designed to equip HVAC Journeymen and apprentices with a solid foundation in basic electricity as it applies to the HVAC industry. Topics covered include electrical safety protocols, with emphasis on proper Lock Out/Tag Out procedures, and safe multimeter usage. Students will learn to read and interpret wiring diagrams, understand wire sizing, and grasp essential electrical concepts such as volts, amps, ohms, and microfarads. The course also covers diagnosing electrical issues using standard procedures, and introduces students to the operation of series and parallel circuits in HVAC systems. By the end of the course, participants will have the knowledge and confidence to safely assist with electrical tasks and troubleshoot basic HVAC electrical components.
